Concrete Mixer Truck Driver

Classification: Full Time Seasonal

Reports to: Superintendent
Work Location: Montana/North Dakota/Wyoming

Position Objective:

Drivers will safely and efficiently operate truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to commercial locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the safe and responsible operation of concrete mixer truck.
  • Responsible for visually inspecting the delivery ticket, ensuring the slump is correct, visually inspecting the load if appropriate and ensuring that all additives and extra products are on or in their truck before leaving the yard.
  • Responsible for inspecting vehicle for proper and safe operating condition before and after each trip and reporting any defects to supervisor.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • Clean inside of truck on a regular basis. Clean outside of truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck.
  • Must maintain a DOT driver’s log and other required transport documentation, adhere to all local, state, and federal (FMCSA) regulations and ensure DOT compliance at all times.
  • Must keep time and material records.
  • Effectively communicate via 2-way radio with supervisor and other team members.
  • Position requires working with truck components, including brake adjustments, tie-down of equipment, as well as climbing in/out of cabs, on/off and over/under equipment, and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Be observant of changing road/traffic conditions and adjust driving accordingly.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork in a timely manner.

Competencies:

  • Class A CDL with tanker endorsement required
  • Clean driving record, trucking experience and knowledge of FMCSA Regulations required.
  • Display an uncompromising focus on safety by properly following company policies and MSHA/DOT/DEQ regulations for safe working procedures and protection of the environment.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Ability to do basic math.
  • Must require minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • At least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) in each eye with or without correction. At least 70 degrees peripheral in horizontal meridian measured in each eye.
  • Must be able to perform with or without accommodations.
  • Must be available to travel in Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming.

Work Demands & Environment:

  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, and as needed, safety-toed boots, respirator, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment.
  • Employee will be required to work in outdoor environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and weather.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, shovel, sweep, rake, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms, possibly for extended periods.
  • Requires regular moving/lifting of up to 50 pounds during the course of the work day.
